Kata Unsu
Shotokan Karate was founded by Gichin Funakoshi, who introduced the discipline to mainland Japan from Okinawa.
From Japan it spread across the world, first arriving in England in the 1950s.
The word "Shotokan" comes from "shoto" which was Funakoshi's pen-name (he was a calligrapher and poet), and "kan" which means a house or place.
